Position
Postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences
University of British Columbia
Credentials

BSc - Chemistry and Earth and Ocean Sciences, Minor in Ocean Sciences (2010)

Cara is currently conducting research at UBC on greenhouse gases in the Arctic Ocean and dissolved gases in groundwater adjacent to natural gas wells. As a graduate student researcher, Cara developed a new instrument for on-site measurement of dissolved noble gases in natural waters, quantified coastal ocean fluxes of carbon, oxygen and nitrogen using data and geochemical modeling, planned and conducted shipboard and land-based field work, and analyzed samples.

The lectures and labs with small class sizes, course-based field work, and research opportunities at UVic helped me discover my passion for environmental chemistry.

Subsequent education: PhD in Chemical Oceanography (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2016)
