Duncan McIntyre
Position
Credentials
BEng (University of Calgary), MSc (UVic)
Area of expertise
Multiphase flow, flow acoustics, marine vessel noise, flow energy harvesting
Duncan received his BSc in mechanical engineering from the University of Calgary in 2016. During his bachelor's he completed a year-long internship in corporate research and development working on gas turbine combustors. This opportunity fostered his growing interest in fluid mechanics, and eventually inspired him to enter gradate school and become a part of the research community. After graduating from his bachelor’s degree in engineering Duncan spent a year studying physics, and during that time he was involved in the Quantum Information Technology laboratory at the University of Calgary. He joined the Fluid Mechanics Laboratory at the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø as an MASc student under the supervision of Dr. Peter Oshkai in September of 2017. His primary research focus is underwater acoustics relating to ship-generated noise.
Outside of his studies, you can find Duncan hiking, camping, skiing, or trying his hand at photography.
