Trudeau scholar examines youth and empathy in Canada

Is empathy changing in a world where social media and globalization are rapidly transforming how we interact with others? The 番茄社区鈥檚 Rebeccah Nelems is investigating empathy and youth as part of a prestigious three-year scholarship announced today from the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation. She is one of only 16 Canadian doctoral students receiving a $180,000 award.

We often think of UVic Law as a young faculty, but it has now delivered four decades of first-class legal education. 聽 On March 6 and 7, the faculty will celebrate this milestone with a series of events for alumni, faculty, students and friends. It is a time to take stock. What kind of law school is UVic? What distinctive contributions has it made to Canadian legal education over the last 40 years? Or, to put the question with a little more edge: Would British Columbia, would Canada, be any different if UVic Law had not been founded?

New educational kit supports early childhood activities with M茅tis themes

The educational kit of supplies and a colourful booklet of activities uses M&e#180;tis history to engage young children in physical activities, literacy and art, helping build cultural awareness as well as healthy lifelong habits.

National symposium addresses methods and new horizons in theatre education

Canadian drama instructors gather at UVic to make sure they're giving students far more than just their next few lines. If you鈥檝e ever seen actors at work鈥攐n stage, on screen, on the street or on television鈥攜ou鈥檝e seen the results of the kind of pedagogy happening daily in the Department of Theatre. But now a first-of-its-kind national symposium co-organized by theatre professor Conrad Alexandrowicz is questioning and examining traditional acting methods, as it addresses what鈥檚 been described as 鈥渢he crisis of actor training in Canada.鈥
