How to apply
The interdisciplinary Media Studies certificate is open to all students admitted to the 番茄社区 (UVic). You can pursue it alongside your degree or as a standalone credential.
Our first cohort of students started in September 2023, and several of them promptly graduated in 2024.
UVic students currently in a degree program
- declare Media Studies as your certificate program with help from academic advising at UVic
- alternatively, go to your MyPage, click "Grades & Records," and then click "Program declaration or change"
- use the comments box in the portal to declare the Media Studies credential
- contact the adviser for your degree program with any questions about their degree requirements
Prospective UVic students
- apply to UVic and declare Media Studies as your certificate program
- use the comments box in the portal to declare the Media Studies credential
Applying for the standalone credential
- ensure you meet the Faculty of Humanities' admission requirements
- apply to UVic and declare Media Studies as your certificate program
- use the comments box in the portal to declare the Media Studies credential
Course requirements (10.5 units)
Students in our certificate program must take 10.5 units of coursework, including at least three Media Studies (MDIA) courses and one Indigenous Studies (IS) course.
