Registration

Please be sure to include the following in your registration application.

1. Statement of purpose

A summary of your reasons for wanting to participate in the field school. What do you hope to gain from participating in the I-witness Holocaust Field School? What can you contribute to the group and the program as a whole? Please demonstrate the connection between the field school and your previous and future academic work. If relevant, please include your background in Holocaust and multicultural education (e.g., coursework, extra-curricular activities, etc). Your summary should be a maximum of two pages in length and should bear the heading "Statement of purpose".

2. Unofficial transcript(s) of courses taken from all post-secondary institutions attended

3. One letter of recommendation from a university instructor

4. Registration form 

5. Interview

We are planning to hold short interviews with applicants at the end of October and beginning of November. Please sign up for a time slot on the sign-up sheet on Helga Thorson’s office door (Clearihue D-255). If you are applying from another University, you can set up a zoom interview by emailing iwitness@uvic.ca.

It is highly recommended that you attend one of the fall information sessions before applying for the program. 

The deadline for applications is November 1, 2023. Please send your registration form, statement of purpose, and unofficial transcript as a combined pdf to iwitness@uvic.ca. The instructor who is writing a letter on your behalf should email the recommendation separately to iwitness@uvic.ca.

If you are accepted to the program, you must pay your deposit by November 15, 2023.

Participants are expected to leave Victoria on the same group flight. Return travel is flexible and is at the discretion of each participant.
