Pierre-Luc Landry first joined the Department of French and Francophone Studies at UVic in July 2019 as an Assistant Professor. He was promoted to Associate Professor within the School of Languages, Linguistics and cultures in July 2024. Previously, Pierre-Luc Landry taught at the Cégep de l’Outaouais (Gatineau), at the Université Laval (Québec), at the University of Ottawa and at the Royal Military College of Canada (Kingston).
His research focuses on contemporary literatures and cultures of various geographical areas (mostly Québec, Canada and France), and on Indigenous literatures and cultures. His area of expertise encompasses research-creation —understood as an "undisciplined" methodology—, queer theories and cultural studies. Trained in the field of narratology, he expanded his theoretical standpoint to include feminist, decolonial, and cultural critics in his toolbox to explore and examine art and literature, and their relationship with society.
Pierre-Luc Landry is also a writer, a publisher, and a queer activist. He writes fiction, non-fiction and poetry as well as other hybrid or undisciplined genres. Pierre-Luc Landry also works as a podcaster and content producer. His work was shortlisted for many prizes and received different national accolades.
As a white settler born on the Ndakina, the traditional territory of the W8banaki people, in southeastern Québec, he is humbled and thankful to have the opportunity to teach, write, and think on the unceded Coast Salish territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ peoples.
