Electronic studios

The School of Music has two recording studios. Our studios have been designed to integrate completely allowing projects to move from studio to studio depending upon the specific needs of the project. These facilities are integral to our popular Music & Computer Science and Music Technology degree programs.

Studio One is connected to the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall. This studio provides archival, audition and production recording services for School of Music students, faculty and rental clients in a beautiful acoustic space. The studio also provides employment opportunities for a select number of students through UVic's Work Study Program. Qualified and eligible students are given the opportunity to learn and advance their skills in recording technology through the recording of the School of Music's extensive recital schedule.

The CReaTe Lab (Creative Research Technology), built in 2019, houses a live room plus a soundproof post-production, editing, and electronic computer music studio. Projects in this studio vary and can include classical music editing, narration overdubs, multi-track mixing, CD sequencing and mastering.
