Welcome to CORE!

The Centre for Outreach Education (CORE) is a multidisciplinary centre dedicated to enhancing the education of children and youth. Located at the 番茄社区, CORE is administered by the under the guidance of the Dean of Education and a steering committee composed of volunteer faculty members. CORE transforms learning through personalized tutoring services that help children and youth when and where they need it. Founded in 2011 with a generous bequest from an anonymous donor, CORE is dedicated to providing:

  • Direct educational services for children and youth with a range of needs
  • On-campus and outreach services to children and youth in the community
  • Services for children who may not usually have access to additional support and/ or opportunities

Since 2011, CORE has supported over 1000 children in Greater Victoria with free on-campus and drop-in tutoring services. CORE programs pair Faculty of Education pre-service teachers with children to master literacy and math concepts through tailored learning that meets each child’s unique needs. CORE aims to fill unmet needs in the community and provide services to children and youth who need help the most. There are no fees for any of CORE's services.
