Position
Project description
A PhD student in Art History and Visual Studies, Jessica’s research focuses on Medieval-Modern juxtapositions in monumental Catholic art and architecture in late 20th and early 21st century Cascadia.
Her work fits into an emerging field of Christianity and the Arts that seeks to articulate the relationships between religion, spirituality and art of the late modern period, and critically reflect on the language and methodologies used when doing so. A practicing artist and mother of two, Jessica's drawings are based on illuminated manuscripts and textile patterns and explore the construction of contemplative space. She has 25 years of experience teaching art, art history, and creative development in both secular and religious contexts. She is grateful to live, work and worship in the Coast Salish territories of the Lekwungen speaking peoples.
