Forensic anthropology course conducts in-death investigations. All jokes about popular TV shows like Sherlock and CSI aside, real-world forensic anthropologists who assist in identifying and locating of missing persons share a desire for problem solving, critical thinking and a deep curiosity. Stephanie Calce鈥檚 forensic anthropology class exposes students to the huge field of forensic science through hands-on projects. Spoiler alert: the students live.

A feast for the mind

Most things only get better with age鈥攊n IdeaFest鈥檚 case, they also get bigger. Now in its second year, the 番茄社区鈥檚 popular festival of ideas has doubled in both length and content, running over two weeks from March 4鈥15 and featuring more than 50 free events from every faculty on campus (and more than half of UVic鈥檚 interdisciplinary research centres).

New office provides focal point for interdisciplinary programs

In support of research and education that address such problems, UVic has鈥攆or decades鈥攐ffered a growing number of programs that integrate approaches and insights from different disciplines, providing students with deeper and more holistic understandings of complex issues.
