On March 21, 2021, UVic joins the world to #FightRacism on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This year鈥檚 theme, 鈥測outh standing up against racism,鈥 honours the many young activists who are fighting for equality around the globe and calls on all of us to stand up against racial prejudice and intolerance.

Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women: a student perspective

On Dec. 6, 1989, an armed gunman entered Polytechnique Montr茅al and shot 28 people, murdering 14 women and injuring 10 other women and four men. On Dec. 5, 2018, almost 30 years after the massacre, UVic came together for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women鈥攁 day to remember the women who died in the massacre as well as countless others who have suffered violence.
