Mechanical engineer graduates on a high note

Graduating this term with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering, a specialization in mechatronics and a minor in business, Andy Huerlimann won鈥檛 need to search for work any time soon. His co-op experiences have led to a permanent job offer from BM&M Screening Solutions, one of his previous co-op employers. 鈥淚 truly think the co-op program helps develop graduates who are desirable employees,鈥 he says.

Learning through community service

January 9, 2013 - The Ring

In 2012, UVic offered its first two courses focused on community service learning (CSL). UVic Co-op and Career partnered with the Faculty of Social Sciences to provide a 300-level CSL course called Working in Community (SOSC 300) in the Fall and Spring 2012 semesters. Co-op and Career and the Department of Pacific and Asian Studies also offered a second-year CSL course called Intercultural Service Learning (PAAS 209) last September, which had 15 participants and was supported by the Learning Without Borders Fund offered through UVic鈥檚 Learning and Teaching Centre.
