Food and drink policy

To provide a comfortable, positive, and welcoming learning environment for students, the Mearns Centre for Learning - McPherson Library and Diana M. Priestly Law Library allows food and covered drinks in most areas.

Please help us maintain our facilities and collections:

Keep a lid on drinks.
Enjoy your cold snacks (we have recycling and garbage bins available on all floors – compost bins can be found in the BiblioCafé and Law Student Lounge).
Tell our staff about any spills or garbage issues (call 250-721-8230 or text us at 778-400-4518).
Keyboard needs a wipe down? We have wipes available at the service desks.
Avoid putting liquids in the garbage bins.

There are a few areas and types of food that are not permitted:

No food or drinks in Special Collections and Archives.
No hot and/or aromatic foods in any area.
No food deliveries to the UVic Libraries.

Please be conscious of your fellow students and community members – food wrappers and snacks can be noisy!
