Kinza has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Canada, USA, Europe and the Orient. She is a highly sought-after Vocal Coach/Repetiteur, specializing in lyric diction, in particular German repertoire and Italian operatic secco recitative.

Biography
The year 2021 marks the 44th year that Dr. Kinza Tyrrell has been tickling the ivories. She is one of Canada’s finest collaborators and is also a steadily rising figure in the world of Canadian Opera. She has extensive experience in choral conducting, vocal coaching and accompaniment, having been a graduate of the Merola Opera Program, Tanglewood Festival and the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio. Some career highlights include singing with the UofT Gospel Choir for Aaron Neville and Roberta Flack, touring B.C. with operatic Tenor Richard Margison and touring the United States with the violin/fiddle duo Bending the Bows, performing with Measha Brueggergosman at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, recording Hollywood movie soundtrack music with the Vancouver Film Orchestra, being the organist on an episode of IZombie, conducting Nico Muhly’s polygamist opera Dark Sisters at Vancouver Opera and translating the new opera Flight of the Hummingbird into the German language.
Kinza is the Principal Répétiteur, Assistant Chorus Director, Assistant Conductor and Music Director of Vancouver Opera in Schools at Vancouver Opera. She has also been on the music faculty at the Canadian Opera Company, has worked as Conductor, Assistant Conductor and Senior Répétiteur at Opera Nuova in Edmonton and the Opera As Theatre Program at the Banff Centre, and has held conducting and teaching positions at the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø, Vancouver Summer Opera Studio, Center for Opera Studies (COSI) in Sulmona Italy, Opera Kelowna, the Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI) and the Charlie Creek Vocal Workshop in Wabash, Indiana.
Kinza received her Doctorate in piano and vocal coaching from McGill University under the tutelage of Michael McMahon, and studied at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, the International Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg, the Tanglewood Music Festival and the Merola Opera Program.
