Brief Biography

Lauren McCall is a composer and music educator from Atlanta, Georgia. She received her Ph.D. in music technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology and her MFA in Music Composition from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Lauren has had compositions performed around North America and Europe. This includes her piece for chamber ensemble and mobile phone orchestra, Contour Unveiled, and her composition Rain Music for baritone and piano. Along with composing, Lauren enjoys playing classical music and jazz on woodwind instruments and piano, spending time in nature, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.

  • Contours Unveiled, composition for laptop orchestra and chamber ensemble. Performed by the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Laptop Orchestra and Yarn/Wire February 2024.
  • Living Water, composition for solo voice, electronics, and piano. Performed by soprano Chelsea Hollow, Summer 2022.
  • Spark and a Glimmer, composition for violin, cello, and piano, which was inspired by Alison Saar’s installation Feallan and Fallow. Performed by violinist Mary Rowell, cellist David Russell, and pianist Geoffrey Burleson at the Vermont College of Fine Arts in February 2017.
