History of the forum
Universities Canada has been working to support the efforts of member institutions to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action through federal advocacy for student access and success. Since launching in 2013 their Principles on Indigenous education Universities Canada has organized professional development opportunities on Indigenization, created an Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Indigenous Education, provided to support Indigenous students and developed Resources on Canada’s universities and reconciliation.
The national forums are attended by university leaders and administrators, Indigenous faculty, researchers and students, government decision-makers and national and local First Nations, Métis and Inuit leaders.
